Dear partners and friends, dear EcurieAix family,
our competitions are now a few weeks ago and we have had time to recover a bit and review the time.
This year's event summer was marked by numerous ups and downs. Due to some delays in the process chain of our wheel carriers we had to equip the eax01 - our Aileen - with the wheel assembly of the eace09. Unfortunately we could only compete with front wheel drive at all events this summer, which of course was not an optimal starting position for the dynamic disciplines.
Our first event this year was the FSAustria in Spielberg at the end of July. At the first event of the season we unfortunately still had some difficulties, which resulted from various delays of the season. So unfortunately we could not prepare Aileen optimally for the event and also had no possibility to test before the competition. This resulted in the technical scrutineering taking a lot of time, so unfortunately we were not able to participate in the dynamic disciplines. However, we were able to deliver in the statics and at least show the potential of our vehicle. In Engineering Design as well as in Business Plan and in Cost and Manufacturing we were on the podium at the FSA.
After a week in Aachen, where we solved a lot of problems and made a big step forward, we continued in Budapest at the FSEast. There we competed in the DV class and were able to repeat our successes from Austria in the Statics. In the Business Plan as well as in Cost and Manufacturing we celebrated a first place in the end. We recorded some progress in Scrutineering, but due to the higher complexity of the technical acceptances for autonomous operation, we could not participate in the dynamic disciplines in Hungary either. Thus, of course, the FSEast also did not go as we had imagined. So now we were even more motivated to show on the FSG how Aileen would perform on the track.
After a short stopover in Karlsruhe, where we could work and test Aileen again between the FSEast and FSG, we immediately went on to Hockenheim. At this point again many thanks to the team of KARaceIng for the hospitality and the help during these days.
After many and intensive preparations and the one or other night shift we mastered the last technical acceptance of the season at the FSGermany sovereignly and could therefore already push on Thursday on the test track at the Hockenheimring to test before the dynamic disciplines. Despite the handicap that we competed only with front wheel drive instead of four wheel drive, we could celebrate some successes. Seventh place in the Autocross and Endurance, for example, is certainly something to be proud of. Above all, we as a team will never forget how it feels to drive through an Endurance in the first attempt - a success that none of us had thought possible before the FSG. Winning the Efficiency and even being able to take a trophy home from Hockenheim is the icing on the cake for us and we are very happy with our results at the FSG. The only downer remains that unfortunately we could not participate in the autonomous disciplines with Aileen.
We now know that we touched too many things this season and our approach to develop a vehicle from scratch led to so many delays that we unfortunately could not present a complete vehicle at the events. However, we also know what we can do better next year and have no doubt that as a team we will learn from these mistakes next season and come back stronger next year.
Despite all the hurdles and difficulties last season, we can be proud to have still put Aileen on the track at the last event - a huge thanks to each and every team member, thank you for your dedication and will to never give up. Also the sixth overall place on the FSG 2022 can be seen and we could finish the event summer successfully.
At this point we would like to thank all our partners and supporters again - without you we would not be able to participate in Formula Student, to show again and again what we are capable of, to develop as future engineers but also as persons, to learn from our mistakes and to experience a very nice and unforgettable time in Formula Student.
Thank you very much for your support!
Your Team Ecurie Aix
